Don't Be A Trickle

"Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said, streams of living water will flow from within him." [ John 7:38]

When animals come down to a river to drink they have no concept of where the water is coming from or where it's going. God is the source of living water. When our lives become this water, we can roll down the mountain and touch the lives of many. We may weaken and become a mere trickle, or we can grow and become mighty, washing away anything that gets in our way. Rivers don't care about obstacles. They go around, through, rolling--never stopping. God uses our lives to touch others. They, in turn, touch more lives. We'll never know how many lives we've touched.

OZ (Oswald Chambers) says:

A river touches places of which its source knows nothing, and Jesus says if we have received of His fullness, however small the visible measure of our lives, out of us will flow the rivers that will bless to the uttermost parts of the earth. We have nothing to do with the outflow--"This is the work of God that ye believe..." God rarely allows a soul to see how great a blessing he is.

Just between you & God:

Don't get wrapped up in who and where. Ask God to keep you moving in and around. Ask for the strength to keep going when you're weary. Ask for the patience to reach everywhere you need to go.

Creation Q & A

Q: In one of the modern Bible versions, it states in Genesis 1 that God created the wild animals. Is this a correct translation?

A: No, definitely not. And Christians need to be aware of how evolutionary ideas have even affected modern Bible translations.

We do see wild animals in the world today. But when God made all the animals--and then Adam and Eve--He described His creation as very good. Also, according to Genesis, Adam and Eve and all the animals were vegetarian. So there was no death or bloodshed of animals before sin, or "wild" animals!

Because many Christians have adopted the evolutionary idea that the violence we see all around us today is a part of God's process of creating, they also believe that wild animals have always been violent.

But, Paul describes the world we live in as one that's groaning in pain because of sin. That's why we're looking forward to the New Heaven and New Earth, when there'll be no violence or death--everything will again be in perfect harmony. It will be a return to Eden, as described in Genesis.

Thought For The Day

"Money is of no value; it cannot spend itself. All depends on the skill of the spender." Ralph Waldo Emerson

Verse for the Day

"Moreover it is required in stewards that one be found faithful." I Corinthians 4:2

Teen's Thought For The Day

"Sometimes you have to take the test before you've finished studying. In life as well as in school."

Parent's Thought For The Day

"Pretty much all the honest truth telling in the world is done by children." --Oliver Wendell Holmes

Coach's Thought For The Day

"A ship in the harbor is safe. But that's not what ships are built for."

Deep Thought For The Day

"I remember that one fateful day when Coach took me aside. I knew what was coming. 'You don't have to tell me,' I said. 'I'm off the team, aren't I?'

'Well,' said Coach 'you never were really ON the team. You made that uniform you're wearing out of rags and towels, and your helmet is a toy space helmet. You show up at practice and then either steal the ball and make us chase you to get it back, or you try to tackle people at inappropriate times.'

It was all true what he was saying. And yet, I thought something is brewing inside the head of this Coach. He sees something in me, some kind of raw talent that he can mold. But that's when I felt the handcuffs go on." -- Jack Handy
